We are loyal Jimmy Fallon viewers in this house and never miss an episode. I should also mention that we are also known to ALWAYS have ice cream in our home on any given day. With all of these things considered, you can imagine our joy when we heard that Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was having an ice cream made for the 2nd Anniversary of the show.
It took us searching through 10-15 stores in Brooklyn/Manhattan and about 6 days from release date to find this creation. I feel it was worth the journey and the joy in my eyes when we found it that fateful Sunday afternoon.
Ok, so enough of my babbling, onto the ice cream!
I must say that Ben and Jerry's ice creams have continued to get better and better at making sure that the add ins are plentiful in every pint. "Late Night Snack" did not disappoint. First spoonful out of the pint was filled with the salted caramel and had 2 potato chip clusters within the vanilla ice cream. OMG, the flavors really melt together beautifully and if you are a true caramel lover, this one is for you.
To sum up the different parts of this flavor:
1) The vanilla ice cream was smooth with specks of vanilla bean throughout
2) The caramel was very creamy as well, but I found myself wanting some more salty kick with every spoonful. If you are so inclined, I would add a dash of flake sea salt to your bowl or spoon.
3) For some reason I was expecting potato chip pieces, but they were little balls of chips that were covered in chocolate. This is where the salt lived. Only complaint is that some were hard (really hard) and others were soggy. So, there was a lack of consistency with the chips, but the chip flavor was there.
I would say that you shouldn't run out and pick up a pint of this new flavor, but it is worth it if you are in the mood for something new and different.
My #1 flavor will forever be Coffee HealthBar Crunch.
Thank you Ben and Jerry's for being creative and giving us all something to smile about!
